About Association for Children with Down Syndrome (ACDS)
ACDS is dedicated to providing lifetime resources of exceptional quality, innovation and inclusion for individuals with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities and their families! Our programs deliver on this mission by providing services that encompass three broad age categories: Early childhood and preschool years, 5 years plus and adult years. Our school in Plainview serves 350 children from birth to five years of age. Although children with Down syndrome make up about half our pre-school population, we also have a growing program serving children on the autistic spectrum, as well as children with other developmental and genetic based disabilities. Our 5Plus program enables us to continue to serve families after the preschool years by providing a wide variety of recreational and respite programs to more than 275 individuals. Our adult services include 8 supervised residences for 50 adults, Medicaid Service Coordination for another 190 individuals and a day habilitation program for 22 adults (Source: ACDS).
