Strong recovery for corporate IPOs on the New York Stock Exchange

Market introductions rose strongly in November on the New York Stock Exchange, which registered nine such operations, significantly more than other American stock exchanges. These corporate IPOs allowed the companies they served to raise slightly more than $2 billion during that month. We can add to these the major spin-off of Marriott Vacations Worldwide, one of the divisions of hotel chain Marriott International, which also took place in November.

This dynamic trend is very encouraging, as it marks the end of a three months phase with no IPOs from operating companies – August, September, October – due to the extremely difficult market conditions. The recovery continued in December with five more IPOs. Numerous other companies, both domestic and international, are currently preparing to enter the market, which should ensure that this trend continues on a positive note into the first quarter of 2012.
