Opening and Closing Bell on Wall Street
iShares, Blackrock's Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) business and the largest provider of ETFs, visited the NYSE to celebrate the recent listing of the Emerging Markets Small Cap (EEMS) ETF. In honor of the occasion, Liz Tennican, iShares Managing Director at BlackRock, rang The Closing BellSM.
Research shows that institutions are increasingly using ETFs for both tactical and strategic purposes. Results of a study conducted earlier in the year by independent research firm Greenwich Associates and sponsored by iShares, indicates that 48% of institutional investors expect to increase their portfolio allocation to ETFs between now and 2013. Of those investors, slightly more than half expect to increase their ETF allocations by 5% or more. The launch of the Emerging Markets Small Cap ETF is a direct response to the growing trend among institutional investors for ETFs investing and trading.
