Johnson & Johnson Turns 125

A letter from William Randolph Hearst (pictured) to B.C. Forbes, business editor of the New York American, 13 May, 1914 – Talking Biz News

Today’s date (NYT) is a red-letter historical day for makers and takers.  Of steroids, that is.  Look at all the great things they’ve done for the game of baseball, just on this date alone:

  • On this date in 2007, Barry Bonds tied Hank Aaron’s 755 career home runs.
  • On the same day, Alex Rodriguez at 32 became the youngest player in Major League history to hit his 500th career home run.
  • On the same date in 2010, Rodriguez became the youngest to hit his 600th home run.
  • And for some icing on that cake -- born on this date in 1962: Roger Clemens.

It’s a veritable grand slam of baseball taint!  Not to even mention today’s reports of an investigation into Rodriguez’s alleged gambling.  Just what the Yanks need on their way to Boston this weekend: A-Rod, as usual, less than helpful.
