The International Children's Peace Prize

Amsterdam opening ceremony honored the 2011 International Children's Peace Prize. This is the seventh time that the International Children's Peace Prize has been awarded to a child who has made a special contribution to the cause of children's rights somewhere in the world.

The International Children's Peace Prize 2011 is awarded to Michaela Mycroft (17) from South Africa. Michaela, also called Chaeli, received this award for her commitment to the rights of children with disabilities in South Africa through her project: the Chaeli Campaign. The Children's Peace Prize is the initiative of the Netherlands-based children's organisation KidsRights, which was founded during a world gathering of Nobel Peace Prize winners in 2005.  More information: childrenspeaceprize.org/
