Every trading day the gong is sounded in Amsterdam to mark the opening (9.00 am) and closing (17.30 pm) of the trading session.
Imtech N.V., one of the companies that has been listed the longest on NYSE Euronext Amsterdam, sounds the gong in honour of the anniversary of share trading. The CEO of Imtech N.V., Mr Van der Bruggen closes trading.
On 14 June 1881, the predecessor of the technical service provider Imtech N.V., the International Crediet-en Handelsvereniging Rotterdam, also known as Internatio, applied to the managing board of the Vereniging voor den Effectenhandel, requesting an official listing on the Amsterdam Exchange. Shortly thereafter Internatio became one of the first listed companies in the Netherlands.
Imtech has now been listed for 131 years and is part of the AMX-index®. The AMX-Index includes well known Dutch companies such as Imtech, Nutreco and Vopak and has been one of the best performing mid-cap indices in Europe. NYSE Liffe, the European derivatives market of NYSE Euronext (NYX), is to introduce futures and options on the AMX-Index on March 26 and April 10. The existing options on individual AMX®equities are very popular, and in 2011more than 5.3 million of them were traded. These products are particularly popular with retail investors, who account for 36% of all turnover in this market.
