Social Media Day at NYSE

New Media Strategies visited the NYSE to mark the first-ever “Social Media Day” at the New York Stock Exchange. “Social Media Day” took place Nov. 4 at the NYSE and consisted of a full day of conversation on achieving success in social media marketing. In honor of the occasion, Pete Snyder, CEO and Founder of New Media Strategies (NMS), one of the world’s largest social media marketing agencies, rang The Opening Bell.

“Social Media Day” will explored social marketing strategy and emerging trends in corporate and political communications. Profiling success stories that have deepened relationships with customers and constituents, social media experts, including Snyder, shared lessons learned, training tips, tools and advice for leveraging social media to build your personal brand.

Christine A. Varney, former Assistant Attorney General for the Antitrust Division, U.S. Department of Justice, opened with a discussion on “Social Media and Wall Street.” Eamon Javers, CNBC Washington Reporter, moderated “How Smart Businesses Are Engaging with Social Media.” The lunch keynote, "Using Social Media to Move the Chains," was given by DeMaurice Smith, Executive Director, NFL Players Association.

Notable panelists included: former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer; former Missouri Governor Matt Blunt; Dean for America National Campaign Manager Joe Trippi; and esteemed leaders from Meredith Corporation, Morton's Restaurant Group, LinkedIn and Verizon among others.
