Hyperdynamics Corp. (NYSE: HDY)

Hyperdynamics is an emerging independent oil and gas exploration and production company that is exploring for oil and gas offshore the Republic of Guinea in West Africa. The company expects to drill its first exploration well in the fourth quarter of 2011. The resource potential of HDY’s 25,000-square-kilometer concession has been estimated at 6 billion barrels of oil on an unrisked basis and 750 million barrels on a risked basis by the independent engineering firm Netherland Sewell and Associates. Recent discoveries offshore in nearby Sierra Leone and Ghana by other companies suggest the potential for world class discoveries, and HDY has identified multiple prospect types both in shallow and deep water on its concession. HDY holds a 77% interest and is the operator; Dana Petroleum plc, which has extensive exploration and production operations offshore West Africa, holds a 23% participating interest.
