As we all know on Wall Street, Wall Street is just a collection of people, in many ways no different from everyone else, and many, many of us are closely involved in our community, whether that's a local community or the global one. We recognize that we're very fortunate to work where we do, and that explains why we have a very strong culture/tradition of giving back.
I'm going to be taking that tradition on the road very soon when I embark on a bike tour from Amsterdam, Holland to Paris, France to raise money for Make-A-Wish of Connecticut. I'll depart from our Exchange in Amsterdam and arrive at our Exchange in Paris. The ride is approximately 600 miles and I plan to do it in 7 days. My goal is to raise enough to grant 3 wishes and we are very close to doing it.
Many years ago i thought long and hard about how lucky those of us who are healthy and have healthy children are. This caused me to think about how i could give back and being a former bike messenger it didn't take me long to realize I could plan bike rides to raise money for Make-A-Wish which grants wishes to children who battle life threatening diseases. I have met these kids and i know first hand how strong they are, the pain i feel in my legs while riding up a long hill is nothing compared to what these kids feel daily. They deserve some time to smile and be happy.
Below are the links to my Make-A-Wish site and my twitter account. I promise to try to blog updates as i get closer to my ride and may even post a "where the heck is Dave" web link where you can track where in the world i am and where i have been. .
