NYSE Amex Options has become the first exchange to file for and receive approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to eliminate position limits for options on the SPDR® S&P 500® Exchanged-Traded Fund (“SPY”) on a fourteen-month pilot basis. This pilot program has been launched to meet growing demand by options customers to trade the most active class of options. Pending regulatory approval, NYSE Arca Options plans to launch mini-options contracts on SPDR® S&P 500® ETF (“SPY”), Apple, Inc. (AAPL), SPDR® Gold Trust (GLD), Google Inc. Recently, I was part of a delegation to Shanghai and Shenzhen with the Options Industry Council (the educational arm of the Options Clearing Corporation).
