NYSE Liffe, NYSE Euronext’s European derivatives market, is to introduce options on the AMX-Index®, which measures the performance of medium-sized Dutch companies.
The introduction of AMX-Index options is an important addition to NYSE Liffe’s successful product range in the Amsterdam market. Existing options on individual AMX® securities are already a popular investment, and in 2011 over 5.3 million of these option contracts changed hands. The AMX-Index is made up of well-known Dutch companies such as Imtech, Nutreco, Vopak and USG People, and is one of the best-performing midcap indices in Europe. Rob Zandbergen, CEO of USG People, sounds the opening gong.
According to Cees Vermaas, CEO Of NYSE Euronext Amsterdam, “NYSE Euronext supports medium-sized companies. We do everything we can to help these companies grow by creating an environment in which medium-sized businesses can develop and become the large caps of the future. We anticipate that the launch of AMX-Index futures and options will have a favourable effect on the liquidity of these midcap shares.”
