Markets reversed their upward momentum midday; although, the Dow and S&P managed to close in green territory mostly positive on Dow earnings though the midday reversal in the Dow and S&P correlate to some of the big banks intraday performances.  Apple hit at a one-month low, and helped drag the Nasdaq down into the red – along with some other tech weakness. ...

Stocks ended the day in negative territory though off the lows of the day. Investors were discouraged by a higher than expected jobless claims number, disappointing existing home sales results, lightened exuberance for positive earnings and ongoing worry over Europe’s sovereign debt crisis. Jobless claims were down only 2,000 to 386k (370k) and the prior week’s number was revised up 8,000 to 388k; improvement in unemployment has been continually softening. ...
