Breakfast Bites: Equities are trading to the plus side  as better than expected jobless claims and consumer confidence trumps a lower increase in GDP

  • The number of Americans applying for unemployment benefits decreased to 364,000, the fewest since 2008
  • The University of Michigan index of Consumer sentiment climbed to 69.9 from 64.1 at the end of November, a six month high as Americans began wrapping up their holiday spending
  • The Conference Board Leading Indicator Index for the U.S. increased 0.5% in November to 118.0 following a 0.9% increase in October
