Breakfast Bites: Equities are trading in positive territory this morning, coming off the first positive week in a while as housing prices managed a slight gain and consumer confidence dipped a bit to 64.9 for May. Home prices eked out a gain of 0.1 percent in March, according to the S&P/Case Shiller composite index of 20 metropolitan areas. Economists expected a gain of 0.2 percent. This was the slowest pace in more than a year as lowering borrowing costs and an improving job market gave sales a boost. ...

Markets spent the day in a gradual decline on continued concern over the financial woes in Europe and questions over Greece’s longevity in the European Union as investors seemed reluctant to buy into the markets ahead of the long Memorial Day weekend.  However, markets did manage to log a positive week. ...

Breakfast Bites: Uncertainty over the status of Greece and concern about regional government finances in Spain are weighing on the markets this morning in light trading ahead of the Memorial Day weekend. The University of Michigan Consumer Confidence Index increased in May to 79.34 German consumer confidence remained steady in May in the face of all the turmoil about a potential Greek exit from the euro zone. Shares of Spain's Bankia were suspended for trading ahead of a board meeting to approve a recapitalization plan. ...

Ahead of the Bell: Dow futures are trading down 3 points and S&P futures are trading up 1.4 points as European markets erased earlier gains to turn flat as traders are likely trying to book profits on the back of a two-day rally with fears over Greece still at the forefront.  Manufacturing across the globe is reportedly slowing, including in the U.S. and China, which added to the drag on foreign markets and U.S. Futures.
